It’s senior portrait season for the class of 2016 and for a Modesto senior photographer like myself that means getting to work with some great clients. Speaking of which Courtney came by recently for her senior session. We headed out to one of my more popular locations and were greeted by some amazing light. I had a great time working with Courtney and her mom Peggy while creating some stellar images, here’s a few of my favorites from her outdoor session.

Modesto high school senior portraits
I’ve been a busy bee lately so I’m a little behind in posting some of my recent sessions. Haley is an awesome all around person and awesome people love the beach…at least that’s how I view the world. I’ve been doing a lot of local senior portrait sessions lately so I was thrilled when Haley wanted to head out-of-town to towards the sunny coast. We did the indoor session the day before and had the opportunity to create a number of beautiful classic images and some featuring Haley’s volleyball stuff. Did I mention Haley’s a great volleyball player? Well, now I have.
The next day we headed to one of my favorite places in the world, Carmel-by-the-Sea, for Haley’s outdoor session. We started in the village’s lovely downtown park where I got to meet Oscar, Haley’s very cute K9. After some time in the grass we moved to the open air mall across the street and finally ending up at my favorite beach in the area. The conditions were perfect with soft warm light, a slight breeze and big waves crashing against the large rocks that highlight this particular stretch of beach. We created a number of images, including the one above, what a moment!

Chelsea Johnson – Class of 2014 Senior Portraits
Chelsea will be graduating from Ceres High (class of 2014) in a few days and stopped by the studio for her senior portraits recently. Chelsea was wonderful to work with and very easy to photograph. We started in the studio before branching out to our outdoor location for some fantastic conditions and light. Chelsea is a very talented drummer and will be playing with the Fresno State Marching band in the fall, way to go Chelsea! Here’s a few images from her senior portraits.

Crystal Briseno – CSU Sacramento 2014 – Graduation Portraits
While I photograph a lot of graduation portraits for high school seniors, we don’t tend to do that many for college seniors, why is that? Crystal will be graduating from CSU Sacramento (my alma mater) in May and thought the occasion should be marked by getting some awesome graduation portraits made. A Good idea in my book!
I had been in nearby Knights Ferry about a week before Crystal gave me a call photographing the beautiful wildflowers (we had a stellar bloom this year) and thought a couple meadows I “discovered” would make the perfect setting for Crystal’s graduation portraits. Hillsides covered in poppies and wild lupine are always good for portraits, right?

Happily Ever After – Christine and Christian
Christine and Christian we’re married on January 4th in a beautiful ceremony at Christine’s church in Ripon, California (a beautiful place for a wedding). Christine and Christian decided to have a “first look” prior to the actual wedding ceremony and did something pretty cool to commemorate the first time they saw each other, they wrote they’re own vows and exchanged them right there in front of their family, a mini ceremony before the main event. For the formal wedding portraits we had a chance to use a family friends walnut orchard and the awesome old barn next to it. We had a wonderful time meeting all of Christine and Christian’s friends and family while creating the beautiful images of their wedding day. The happy couple is back from their Hawaiian honeymoon and jumped right back into finishing their degrees. Here’s a preview of some the images from the wedding of Christian and Christine Smith. Senior Portraits
Brianna will be graduating from Orestimba High in Newman, California this coming May and came by the studio for her senior portraits recently. Brianna has a great sense of style and was a lot of fun to hang out with during our session, always a recipe for great senior portraits! We started with some indoor images in the studio before heading outside for the location portion of the session among the rocks and tall grasses of the nearby foothills, a great places for senior portraits. We made some killer images during Brianna’s session, here’s a few to check out.

Cessalee Vance – Enoch High School Class of 2014 – Senior Pictures
The lovely Cessalee will be graduating from Enoch High in Modesto next year (class of 2014) and came by last week for her senior pictures. Cessalee’s wonderful to work with, a lot of fun to hang around with and even photographs nicely too, the whole package.
We started the session in the studio before heading off for the outdoor images in one of my favorite foothill spots, I’m practically living out there right now. As you’ll be able to see by the pictures below we had some killer clouds and took full advantage of them during the session. The big sky isn’t something you see in many portraits but I love to utilize a dramatic sky whenever I have the opportunity. Really, how awesome would a few of those images look as large wall portraits? There’s a statement piece if I’ve ever seen one. Enough with the talking, here’s a few samples from the session.

Mommy {To Be} Maternity Portrait Session with Whitney
Whitney will be welcoming a beautiful baby girl into the world very soon so we headed out for a few maternity portraits, or Mommy {To Be} images as I like to call them. Whitney makes a beautiful model which makes my job of making her look her best an easy one and allows me to focus more of my attention on creative stuff, like open fields and balloons. Her baby shower will be featuring a pink color theme so I wanted to work that into the images in some way as the pictures are going to be used during the party. We started the session with a few studio images, a bit of a warm up, before heading to the field of oats just outside my studio for a few images with some balloons. We finished the session at one of my favorite local spots.
