Modesto Family Portraits
I don’t think anything quite transforms a house into a home like having portraits of your family hanging on it’s walls. Beautiful family portraits bring a smile to your face when you enter a room, it’s one of the many reasons I take so much time creating the perfect portrait for each of the family’s I have the chance to work with. Juleana and her sons, Jared, Justin and Jack came out with me to one of my favorite foothill spots for their family session a couple weeks ago. Jared came in for his senior portraits a couple weeks before and this family session was a great opportunity to create accent images of his brothers along with a main portrait for their home. The Rice’s are so great to work with, fun, easy going and photogenic (that’s always a plus)!
One storm had just moved through the area and another was on it’s way in as we prepared for the session. As luck would have it we timed things perfectly and we’re rewarded by some amazing clouds and a perfect sunset. Here are a few of the images from their session, enjoy!

Modesto senior photography
Senior portraits here in the Modesto area has been in full swing for a while and Xavier came in for his a few weeks ago. We started inside making some great studio images before heading downtown for the outdoor images. Downtown Modesto with it’s cool alleyways, colorful walls, staircases and more make for awesome image…if you know where to look. Luckily I know all the great spots. It’s also a nice alternative to the big beautiful landscape locations I’m known for. Xavier is a wonderful guy, cool to hang out with and did a great job during the session. He’ll be graduating this June and moving on to great things in college. Here are a few images from Xavier’s session.

Modesto high school senior portraits
I’ve been a busy bee lately so I’m a little behind in posting some of my recent sessions. Haley is an awesome all around person and awesome people love the beach…at least that’s how I view the world. I’ve been doing a lot of local senior portrait sessions lately so I was thrilled when Haley wanted to head out-of-town to towards the sunny coast. We did the indoor session the day before and had the opportunity to create a number of beautiful classic images and some featuring Haley’s volleyball stuff. Did I mention Haley’s a great volleyball player? Well, now I have.
The next day we headed to one of my favorite places in the world, Carmel-by-the-Sea, for Haley’s outdoor session. We started in the village’s lovely downtown park where I got to meet Oscar, Haley’s very cute K9. After some time in the grass we moved to the open air mall across the street and finally ending up at my favorite beach in the area. The conditions were perfect with soft warm light, a slight breeze and big waves crashing against the large rocks that highlight this particular stretch of beach. We created a number of images, including the one above, what a moment!

Modesto Senior Pictures
I had the pleasure of taking Julia’s senior portraits the other day. Julia is a senior at Enoch High School and will be graduating this coming June. Julia’s mom and younger sister joined her for the session and they couldn’t have been nicer to hang out with for the afternoon. Julia is a natural in front of the camera and it really shows in the images from the session. We started in the studio and ended the session at one of my favorite outdoor locations where we were greeted with an absolutely stunning sunset and with beautiful warm colors that bathed the entire area in perfect light. I’ve become known for my images from certain outdoor locations so I like to change things up occasionally in order to continue to offer something new to my clients and keep things fresh for me as well. While Julia and I were walking the area we discovered a couple new locations with beautiful background vistas and took full advantage of them. I’ll certainly be adding these to my shot list for future sessions. It was a wonderful session with Julia and we created a number of beautiful images perfect for wall portraits, here’s a few images from the day.

Alexee Curtis – Enoch High 2015 – Modesto Senior Portraits
Alexee is a senior at Enoch high right next door in Modesto and stopped by the other day for her senior portraits. Alexee is a pretty awesome young woman and loves to sew, so we of course couldn’t miss the chance to work that into her session. She brought by her sewing machine and a beautiful quilt she made to be featured in a couple images. Luckily I had a few tailor/seamstress related items laying around that worked perfectly for the picture. I really like the resulting images and some of the nice details we added if you look closely. After our indoor session we headed outside where we were treated to some absolutely beautiful, warm light that highlighted the natural beauty of our location. It was a wonderful afternoon. Austin Trickey – Beyer High 2015 – Modesto Senior Portraits
Austin’s a pretty awesome guy, of course he’s also my cousin so I may be a bit bias. He’s smart (you should hear the list of schools he’s applying to), he played water polo, has a cool car…I mean come on, mother’s lock up your daughters, right? Anyway, Austin wanted to go out-of-town for his senior portraits so we headed to San Fransisco for a day in the city and a chance to do something a bit different than what everyone else is doing. We started along the Embarcadero where we found some awesome tagged walls before moving on to a few of my other favorite SF portrait locations before ending the day at the ruins of the Sutro Baths and then some tacos at a nearby taqueria. Happily Ever After…Lacey + Michael Modesto Wedding Photographer
Lacey gets what she wants. Don’t believe me? Just ask her new groom Michael. Mike caught Lacey’s eye as the slightly older guy working at the lumber yard as she would walk home from school. The age difference didn’t deter Lacey however as she patiently stocked her prey and eventually won the heart of her husband-to-be. If you spend any amount of time with Lacey and Mike you quickly see how much love and respect they have for each other, the foundation of any successful marriage.
It was a pleasure getting to share in Michael and Lacey’s big day and having the opportunity to capture the smiles, laughter, hugs and tears as their two lives became one. It was also great to meet and hang out with their friends and family who were welcoming and all around wonderful to work with. Congratulations, Lacey and Mike!

Chelsea Johnson – Class of 2014 Senior Portraits
Chelsea will be graduating from Ceres High (class of 2014) in a few days and stopped by the studio for her senior portraits recently. Chelsea was wonderful to work with and very easy to photograph. We started in the studio before branching out to our outdoor location for some fantastic conditions and light. Monterey Wedding Photography
It’s been amazing getting to know Stephanie and Chris since day one. I’m very lucky to have worked with so many wonderful clients over the years and these two certainly rate right up there with the best. Since they stopped by for the initial consultation they’ve been excited, friendly and a ton of fun.
Chris and Stephanie had a beautiful beach front wedding at the lovely Monterey Beach Resort in Monterey, California. The California coast, and this part of it specifically, is one of my favorite places in the world to both work and play so getting to photograph the wedding there was great. Monterey Wedding Photography…not a bad job!
Chris is a big football fan and wanted to incorporate his passion for the game into the images we created with the guys. I can’t think of a better way to do that then a little football game on the beach before the ceremony just to keep things loose. As Chris tossed a couple touchdowns, Stephanie was looking stunning as she had her hair and makeup done with her bridesmaids.
Surrounded by friends and family, their day was stunning! Filled with love and laughter it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to share in the event and create the memories of their wedding day. Congratulations, Stephanie and Chris!

Happily Ever After…Taylor + Tommy Sacramento Wedding Photography
Taylor and Tommy tied the knot in a lovely ceremony at St. Stephen church in Sacramento before heading back to Reno and start their lives together. I had photographed Taylor’s sister a few months before for her senior portraits so it was great getting the opportunity to photograph Taylor’s big day as well. Tommy and Taylor are an awesome couple and we enjoyed meeting the rest of their family and friends where creating the stunning images of their wedding day.
It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to be part of the happiest day of a person’s life, all the best Taylor and Tommy!
