Speaking of which Courtney came by recently for her senior session. We headed out to one of my more popular locations and were greeted by some amazing light. Jessica will be graduating from Grace Davis High in nearby Modesto this June and came by the studio for her senior pictures just before Christmas. In addition is being a lovely young lady, Jessica is also a very talented soccer player, something we made sure to incorporate into her session. Jessica wanted to do something outdoors so we headed to the foothills for the beautiful views and stunning light…neither of which disappointed. Modesto Family Portraits
I don’t think anything quite transforms a house into a home like having portraits of your family hanging on it’s walls. Beautiful family portraits bring a smile to your face when you enter a room, it’s one of the many reasons I take so much time creating the perfect portrait for each of the family’s I have the chance to work with. Juleana and her sons, Jared, Justin and Jack came out with me to one of my favorite foothill spots for their family session a couple weeks ago. Jared came in for his senior portraits a couple weeks before and this family session was a great opportunity to create accent images of his brothers along with a main portrait for their home. The Rice’s are so great to work with, fun, easy going and photogenic (that’s always a plus)!
One storm had just moved through the area and another was on it’s way in as we prepared for the session. As luck would have it we timed things perfectly and we’re rewarded by some amazing clouds and a perfect sunset. Here are a few of the images from their session, enjoy!

Senior portraits here in the Modesto area has been in full swing for a while and Xavier came in for his a few weeks ago. We started inside making some great studio images before heading downtown for the outdoor images. Downtown Modesto with it’s cool alleyways, colorful walls, staircases and more make for awesome image…if you know where to look. Luckily I know all the great spots. It’s also a nice alternative to the big beautiful landscape locations I’m known for. Xavier is a wonderful guy, cool to hang out with and did a great job during the session. He’ll be graduating this June and moving on to great things in college. Here are a few images from Xavier’s session.

Modesto high school senior portraits
I’ve been a busy bee lately so I’m a little behind in posting some of my recent sessions. Haley is an awesome all around person and awesome people love the beach…at least that’s how I view the world. I’ve been doing a lot of local senior portrait sessions lately so I was thrilled when Haley wanted to head out-of-town to towards the sunny coast. We did the indoor session the day before and had the opportunity to create a number of beautiful classic images and some featuring Haley’s volleyball stuff. Did I mention Haley’s a great volleyball player? Well, now I have.
The next day we headed to one of my favorite places in the world, Carmel-by-the-Sea, for Haley’s outdoor session. We started in the village’s lovely downtown park where I got to meet Oscar, Haley’s very cute K9. After some time in the grass we moved to the open air mall across the street and finally ending up at my favorite beach in the area. The conditions were perfect with soft warm light, a slight breeze and big waves crashing against the large rocks that highlight this particular stretch of beach. We created a number of images, including the one above, what a moment!

Senior Portraits
Brianna will be graduating from Orestimba High in Newman, California this coming May and came by the studio for her senior portraits recently. Brianna has a great sense of style and was a lot of fun to hang out with during our session, always a recipe for great senior portraits! We started with some indoor images in the studio before heading outside for the location portion of the session among the rocks and tall grasses of the nearby foothills, a great places for senior portraits. Cessalee Vance – Enoch High School Class of 2014 – Senior Pictures
The lovely Cessalee will be graduating from Enoch High in Modesto next year (class of 2014) and came by last week for her senior pictures. Cessalee’s wonderful to work with, a lot of fun to hang around with and even photographs nicely too, the whole package.
We started the session in the studio before heading off for the outdoor images in one of my favorite foothill spots, I’m practically living out there right now. As you’ll be able to see by the pictures below we had some killer clouds and took full advantage of them during the session. The big sky isn’t something you see in many portraits but I love to utilize a dramatic sky whenever I have the opportunity. Really, how awesome would a few of those images look as large wall portraits? There’s a statement piece if I’ve ever seen one. Enough with the talking, here’s a few samples from the session.

Patrick Leiting – Modesto High Class of 2014 – Senior Portraits
Patrick came by the studio for his senior portraits last week, he’ll be graduating from Modesto High in the Spring of 2014. We had a great time during the session and enjoyed hanging out with his parents and sister as well. Patrick is a great guy, a pleasure to work with and was great in front of the camera, very natural. In addition to being an all around cool guy Patrick also races BMX bikes in competitions all around the country, pretty cool I think. Of course when spending most of your time racing you’ve got to work your bike and some of the awards you’ve won into the sessions. Patrick has a pretty sweet bike and I’m hoping we can head out sometime so I can make some images of him doing a few tricks or maybe jumping over fire. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

Mr. and Mrs. {Almost} Session – Engagement Portraits with Christian and Christine
Meet Christian and Christine, one of my newer couples who will be getting married just after the new year. Both go to school out-of-state so this summer is a busy one as Christine is finishing up as much wedding planning as possible before she has to leave again for school. Christian is in the middle of a summer internship in Texas and headed to California for the July 4th holiday, a short family vacation and as it turns out their engagement portraits too. The engagement session is usually my first opportunity to work with my couples but in this instance it was also my first chance to meet Christian as well.
We headed out to one of my favorite “local” spots in the greater Modesto area as the location seemed to fit their wedding theme and Christine’s vision perfectly. Both Christine and Christian were wonderful to work with and fun to hang out with during their engagement portraits. They have a very natural and comfortable way about about them in front of the camera, always a big plus. We had some great light and made good use of it. The images from the session turned out wonderfully and I’m looking forward to their wedding in January.

Mommy {To Be} Maternity Portrait Session with Whitney
Whitney will be welcoming a beautiful baby girl into the world very soon so we headed out for a few maternity portraits, or Mommy {To Be} images as I like to call them. Whitney makes a beautiful model which makes my job of making her look her best an easy one and allows me to focus more of my attention on creative stuff, like open fields and balloons. Her baby shower will be featuring a pink color theme so I wanted to work that into the images in some way as the pictures are going to be used during the party. We started the session with a few studio images, a bit of a warm up, before heading to the field of oats just outside my studio for a few images with some balloons. We finished the session at one of my favorite local spots.
